Katie N. Starks MD
Dr. Starks is a Southern Californian turned Texan. In her home town of Alta Loma, she graduated from Etiwanda High School and attended Biola University in La Mirada, CA on a volleyball scholarship. She graduated on academic all American with a degree in biological sciences and minor in Biblical Studies.
A desire to pursue research led Dr. Starks to attend the University of Arizona where she obtained her Masters in cellular and systemic physiology while teaching undergraduate anatomy and physiology. Though she loved basic science and research, Dr. Starks felt called to pursue a career in medicine. Attending the University of New Mexico she graduated 6th in her class with the faculty excellence award, alpha omega alpha, and internal medicine student of the year. Dr. Starks then completed her transitional internship year at Harbor- UCLA in Torrance, CA and then moved to Dallas to attend the University of Texas Southwestern for her ophthalmology residency. During this time, she received excellent hands- on training in all fields of ophthalmology in Oculoplastic, Reconstruction, and Orbital Surgery as well as Neuro- Ophthalmology.
After her fellowship, Dr.Starks moved to Fort Worth and joined a group in private practice. Along the way she met her husband, married in July 2016, and moved to Prosper, TX to join Texas Vision and Laser Center. Dr. Starks practices general ophthalmology and oculoplastic, particularly cataracts, lid surgeries, Moh’s reconstructions, cosmetic lid surgeries, and non- surgical cosmetics (Botox, Restylane, etc.).
Dr. Starks is a member of the Texas Medical Associations, Tarrant County Medical Society, and American Academy of Ophthalmology. For fun, Dr. Starks enjoys spending time with her husband and family, playing volleyball, piano, snow skiing, and eating too much of the sweets she bakes.
